Sifu: A Third-Person Action Game Featuring Intense Hand-To-Hand Combat!

I don’t know how I missed this announcement three weeks ago, but Sifu is the new game of Sloclap, the independent studio behind Absolver and that was a game I covered a lot back in the day! Knowing how Absolvers plays, I know this Sifu is going to amazing!

Sifu is a third-person action game featuring intense hand-to-hand combat that puts you in control of a young Kung-Fu student on his path of revenge throughout the city. Looking at the trailer, it seems that the game is a much improved version of Absolver, yet catered to handle you fighting mutiple people at once. It retains the freeform style of combat but with amore polished animation which I liked.

What’s also interesting to me is the whole aging aspect. In the trailer, we saw the main characters get killed and resurrect and mature, so from my guess, it seems that when you die, you might get slower and weaker or have more moves available to you. It’s pretty cool either way. Although it’s a single-player-only game, I do hope that they take what they learn from Sifu and apply it to their next game which hopefully is going to be Absolver 2.

  1. I can’t lie, Sifu looks pretty damn good. If they’re going with the idea about aging you used then I imagine there’s gonna be like 3 lives and then you have to redo the level because getting weaker is a harsh mechanic unless they balance it out somehow.
