Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, a Metroidvania video game developed by Surgent Studios and published by Electronic Arts, under its EA Originals label, has proven once and for all, that the fight against “woke” games was never about quality and original games, but also a fight to maintain the status quo of just White characters been the main characters in the video games.

On the 23rd of April, a Twitter handle by the name @kabrutusrambo, made a post saying:

Sup guys, just want to remind that ZAU is gonna launch today. This game is on Sweet Baby Inc. detected curator page and yeah it is connected to Sweet Baby Inc. Remember to vote with your wallet!

Now, if you’re a bit confused, the Sweet Baby Inc. controversy revolves around the video game narrative consultant group, Sweet Baby Inc., and the controversy that was sparked when a Steam user created a page to identify games the company had worked on, accusing the studio of “wokefiyng” games. The argument is that Sweet Baby Inc. is accused of destroying the gaming industry by making games that focus on woke agendas rather than the quality of a game. It was never clear what is considered woke, however, the general idea has always revolved around the addition of alleged forced diversity and inclusion in modern games.

Well, when a brand new game is released, featuring a brand new story and characters and is also considered woke and accused of DEI, it’s time that we admit that the definition of woke, really just means “I don’t want diversity in any format“. This is quite frustrating to see as we finally got original works, with original characters but these people are too braindead to see past their stupid fight against the “woke agenda”. If the game was bad, that would be one thing, however, everyone that has gotten the chance to play it, seems to enjoy the game mechanics and gameplay, which is largely the most important aspect of a game.

It also doesn’t help that marketing and advertisement for the game by EA were abysmal and non-existent up until the release of the game, which will only hurt the game’s longevity and success. People will post like the ones from @kabrutusrambo and outright pass up a game without genuinely researching to see if the game would be something that they’d be interested in. It’s not the first time a game was harshly judged, only for people years later to realize that it’s fun.
