Nintendo’s upcoming game Splatoon has decided to turn of voice chat and their reason is debatable.

Online gaming nowadays is extremely crucial has it increases the longevity of the game and been able to talk to people helps out a lot when it comes to co-ordination and strategy. Apparently Nintendo doesn’t seem to agree in that aspect, as they have decided to disable the chat. They reasons for it is to create a positive experiences for the younger gamers.

According to a interview with GamesRadar:

“This is coming from personal experience,” he comments in an interview in the latest issue of Edge. “When I played online games, I didn’t like the negativity got and people telling me, ‘You’re crap. Go away.’ So we wanted to focus on the positive aspects of online gaming.”

I personally can’t agree to this statement as playing online and communicating (with normal, non-troll people) can be a fun experiences and sometimes memorable too. But I can see Nintendo trying to maintain a family-friendly image so from a business point, it somewhat makes sense.

Splatoon is an upcoming third-person shooter video game developed and published by Nintendo for Wii U, which is scheduled for release in Japan on May 28, 2015, and the rest of the world on May 29, 2015.
