As you know, once in a while, I like to highlight various works by passionate people across the world. Now although this particular work in not my cup of tea, I’m sure someone out there who is a fan of Sailor Moon-like mangas would find some joy in Adorned by Chi!

Here’s a synopsis of the story:

Adorned by Chi tells the tale of Adaeze, a painfully shy Nigerian college student who discovers she has Goddess-like powers and must, reluctantly, lead a team of young warriors to defeat an apocalyptic monster that threatens to destroy humanity. Adaeze Adichie spends her days studying and her nights overtaken by inexplicable crying fits, or…..can they be explained?

Now I peeked at the free issue, (the first five issues are free) and I have to say the quality of the manga/graphic novel is very high! The premise is interesting and I think this is one of those few instances where the main characters are in university, so that opens up more rooms for story-telling! Of course, the biggest take away is that the story takes place in Nigeria, a region we don’t often see in comics or manga! Not to mention that the creator is taking inspiration from that country’s culture which is dope!

Like I said before if you’re into Magic girls-type stories, then this one might just be up your alley!
