If there’s one name I’ve heard all through the year, ring over and over again, it’s JUJUTSU KAISEN! People hyped this upcoming anime so much that I owed it to myself to at least check it out!

Jujutsu Kaisen is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018. It finally debuted its first anime episode on Oct 2nd, and reception as been crazy, here’s the synopsis for ya:

In a world where demons feed on unsuspecting humans, fragments of the legendary and feared demon Ryoumen Sukuna were lost and scattered about. Should any demon consume Sukuna’s body parts, the power they gain could destroy the world as we know it. Fortunately, there exists a mysterious school of Jujutsu Sorcerers who exist to protect the precarious existence of the living from the undead!

Yuuji Itadori is high schooler who spends his days visiting his bedridden grandfather. Although he looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object, but little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…

Seeing as this was just the first episode, I won’t get too crazy with my impression but I will say that I was surprised! I couldn’t see the hype for this series but that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it at all! The main character already grew on me in the short time that we got to meet him and I’m now invested to see how he’ll proceed with his newfound motivation to protect his friends! The animation was great, but the OST was something else! That OST was banging when the action took place!

I can already see this going into some messed up territory and I’m all for it! From the quirky humour (which sold me on the anime tbh) to the crazy animated action scenes, JUJUTSU KAISEN my be something to keep an eye out for in the coming weeks!
