First and foremost, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! What better way to start the new year off than by talking about Spawn and how Todd promises that the film will be dark, ugly and not butt jokes. When it comes to the Spawn Movie, I haven’t thought about it in months, however some news came out that rejuvenated my hype for the movie once again. If you’re someone that’s worried about the Spawn movie getting that “positive vibe” stick, then worry no more.
Todd McFarlane has reassured fans of the series on his promise that his upcoming Spawn movie, will be just as gruesome as his comic book counterpart.
Speaking to Nerdist, McFarlane says
“There’s no joy,” McFarlane told me. “There’s gonna be no fun lines in it, and it’s just gonna be this dark, ugly two hours worth of movie, which is essentially what a lot of supernatural/horror movies are anyway. There’s not a lot of funny in them. And that seems to be a weird hurdle for a lot of people in this city to get over because they sort of go into a superhero/Avengers default all the time.”
Now that’s what I like to hear! When I read the comics, I was shocked by the gruesome images and despair Spawn brought to the table and to see that all accurately represented on the big scream is going to be awesome. I also like how he assured us that there’s not going to be comedic sticks for the sake of lightening up the mood or anything. It’s going to be dark and ugly from start to finish.
