The Outer Worlds is a new single-player first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division that was unveiled at the Games Award and you know, at first I didn’t care too much about this game but after looking into the game more, I think we may have something special on out hands.
In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.
The reason why I became interested in this game was because of the dialogue possibility and RPG options that may come with The Outer Worlds. In one part of the trailer, one of the characters made it clear that you had a choice to let both of them live. That’s what I hope The Outer Worlds will provide a sense of true true consequences that will shape the world around me. That’s what I want. I’m sick and tired of games trying to make it seem like your choices affect the world around you when in reality, no matter what you do, it all leads to the same conclusion. Hopefully, The Outer Worlds will deliver.
