Cyberpunk 2077 has gotten a standalone Netflix spinoff named Cyberpunk: Edge runners. The developer announced his partnership with Kill la kill studio trigger together with Netflix during a presentation at the night city wire saying that they have been working on the project secretly. The movie is scheduled to premiere in 2022. The producers will set the anime series in Cyberpunk 2077 Night City. However, it will focus on new characters and stories throughout the ten episodes.

Apart from being created by members who worked on several anime films such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, it is popular for its experimental stylistic and amazing narratives. Cyberpunk will be launched on all major platforms this November after another delay that was announced a few months ago to give the producers enough time to fix the bugs and polish up their experience.

When it will be launched, it’s going to become one of the biggest events of the year. And it will coincide with the next-generation console launch from both Sony and Microsoft. Therefore, it’s always good to see that Cyberpunk is going to continue expanding as we progress into the future. And this is going to be exciting for most anime fans. Let’s look at a few most essential anime cyberpunk series. With that being said, in the meantime, here are some other cyberpunk/anime-related content you can check out now.

Denno Coil

This genre focuses on technology and distant futures that could be real in a couple of years of come. Having an anime reach into the future and pull out an accurate prediction of what will happen is a rare treat.

The underrated series is not only colorful but also surprising with details of young actors thrown into a reality that collides with the online world. Supernatural elements are also thrown into the mix. Multiple plots are also integrated throughout the tale and it ends on a high note that many have considered satisfactory.

Akira

Akira doesn’t seem like a typical cyberpunk adventure at first. However, you can’t deny that it possesses all the qualities of the genre through the dystopian future, mainstream level of success, and grimy technology. With plenty of mind-blowing themes, Akira is a blend of substance and style.

Thanks to the amazing animation that was ahead and the soundtrack that blew people’s minds back in 1998, Akira raises the bar for all anime movies.

Ghost in the shell

If you are into Cyberpunk, you should consider starting with this influential and iconic anime film. The movie was created by Masamune Shirow. It is not just beautiful visually but also examines what it means to be truly human in a world that is quickly abandoning the flesh in favor of technology.

Ghost in the Shell is a feast for the soul and eyes that question the identity concept in a future where technology is everything. The film is made up of 52 interesting episodes that feature betrayal, corruption, and espionage. In a treacherous world, everybody has to be on the lookout for new ways to survive.

Ergo Proxy

Rene Descartes shook the world of philosophy when he showed us what it means to be alive – that thought is the basis of existence. Ergo Proxy came along and used this idea across the 23 episodes that were filled with chaos and a moody atmosphere. And searching for meaning to give to artificial and organic life.

In an age where hopeful remnants want to survive, only the Auto-Reivs can ensure that human beings survive. But when the automation starts showing signs of independence, the dark tale starts. Mayor’s work is to preserve a balance between mystery and nature.

Battle Angel Alita

Up to date, it’s shameful how little content there is for Battle Angel Alita. An examination of humanity is tested and foretold through the eyes of a programmed cyborg. The producer-only received two original animations. But at a level where the hearts and minds cannot fathom.

Conclusion

There are a lot of interesting movies out there for you to enjoy. Do not be afraid of exploring your world and learning new things. By reading books, traveling, and watching movies will pay off in spades in the long run. Don’t you agree?
