Alight, last year they did this shit with Jump Force and it was stupid, this year The Games Awards once again decides to disrespect the fighting game community with another bullshit!
The Game Awards is an annual awards ceremony honoring all the various achievements in the video game industry. It’s to highlight the games that put their best foot forward and made an incredible contribution to their respective field. So tell, why it all that is good in this messed up world of ours, did One Punch Man, an anime game that is the furthest from what you’d consider a fighting game, included in the list for BEST FIGHTING GAME of the YEAR?
They did this last year too and I wasn’t fond of it either! Look, you can say I’m taking this too seriously, and that because I am. The GAME AWARDS is a ceremony that celebrates the best in gaming, and as a fighting game fan, I’d like to see the best fighting game to be represented. Look, I know that they may not have a lot of games to add to the list, but if they’re adding Street Fighters & MK11 AGAIN, then they can do the same to all the fighting game that had season 2’s too! Heck, My Hero One’s Justice 2 would have been a better addition, at least that game tried to be a fighter!
Heck, here’s a list of games that could have taken One Punch Man place with EASE:
- Rival of Aether
- Fantasy Strike
- Them’s Fighting Herds
- Super Smash Ultimate Season 2
- Samurai Shodown Season 2
- Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS. MAXI BOOST ON
You get the idea. Honestly, if The Game Awards wants gamers to continue to take them seriously, they can’t be out here making these types of decisions. I know some you might say “well, at least OPM won’t win”, but that’s not the point. It got nominated, that alone sends a wrong message to what the standard of fighting games should be! This is really bothering me a lot. So I wanted to voice my opinion!
