It’s been a while since I decided to try out a new anime. I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz around one in particular called “Planet With”, and after watching the first epsidoe, I can somewhat see why there’s a lot of talk about it.
Kuroi Souya is a high schooler living a peaceful life despite having no memories of his past. One day, however, his town is attacked by one of the mysterious Nebula Weapons. Together with the cat-like “Sensei” and the gothic lolita Ginko, Souya gets dragged into a battle against… seven superheroes who protect the town! What is Souya’s reason to fight? The answer lies in his memories.
Now, I am aware that Planet With is a combinations of everything ‘anime’, featuring every kind of trope. However, I couldn’t tell you where most, if not all the tropes or references come from which anime specifically. I just went into it with a blank slate. Surprisingly the first episode was pretty good.
It started with Soya Kuroi, a high schooler living a peaceful life despite having no memories of his past. He seem like your typical anime protagonist that lives with his guardians, a Maid and a giant Cat. Yep, nothing out of the ordinary here. It wasn’t until half way into the episode that we saw a twist I wasn’t expecting.
One day, his town is attacked by one of the mysterious Nebula Weapons. Together with the cat-like “Sensei” and the gothic lolita Ginko, Soya gets dragged into a battle against seven superheroes who protect the town! Yeah, instead of joining the seven heroes, it turns out that Soya is fighting against them. That twist got me intrigued as hell. I thought I got a read on this anime but I was wrong as hell.
Anyways, I think the most interesting aspect of this anime is of course learning Soya memories and seeing the interaction between himself and those seven heroes.
