One of my biggest annoyances when it comes to character creation sections in games is the lack of hair options for Afrocentric people. Look, it’s great that they finally added detailed skin tone variations, but that really does me or people like me any good when I’m forced to either go with the Afro, thick dreads or buzz cuts IF I wanted to created an authentic Black character. And what’s puzzling to me is why that’s always been largely ignored. At first I thought, “huh, maybe our hair just ain’t that easy to model or animate”, then I’d take one look at ANY of the 2K NBA games and realize that’s bullshit.
I made a video over at my YouTube channel talking about my annoyance with old people who are clearly out of touch with reality, blaming video games for the cause of a horrific mass shooting that took place in El Paso. I wanted to continue the discussion.
You know, with games like Ghost of Tsushima, Conquers’s Blade, Anno 1800, The Witchers, Red Dead Redemption and Total war: Three Kingdoms, they all share something in common. All of these games are based on strong cultures from various countries/continent. Themes that we’ve seen, time and time again.
However, when I tried to think about games based around the continent of Africa, aside from the fantastic game that was Assassin’s Creed Origins, nothing came up. At first, I was kinda bummed out as usual, but now I felt like this might be a great opportunity for the booming video game industry in Africa to capitalize on this untapped gold and turn it into asset.
What’s that in the sky? It’s a plane, it’s a bird…no it’s a me, Pyros! Yeah, not sure where I was going with that but I’ve written it down so it’s staying there. Feel free to roast me for it. Anyways, the virtual streets are once again buzzing with rumors and gossip and this time it’s about a possible Superman game made by the people at RockSteady. Everyone wants a Superman game. Heck, I want a Superman, OK to be honest I really don’t care too much like that BUT, I would like to see what a SuperMan could look like and so with that I’d like to discuss how a Superman game would work gameplay wise.
I remember when Pokemon Let’s Go was first unveiled to the world, Masuda specifically stated that the Let’s GO games were core games to the series. The fans however couldn’t accept that truth and instead convinced themselves that it was a spin-off to the Pokemon games. Well, Masuda stresses once again for the nay-sayers out there that Lets Go is NOT a spin-off, and is in fact a core game. You only have yourself to blame guys.
Another year, another bulk of mobile game to rate. Last year I wrote a blog titled “Top 5 Most Friendliest F2P Gacha Game In 2017”, so it’s only natural that I’d do one for 2018. There’s a lot of mobile games this year, especially gacha games, but for me I tend to play only mobiles games that reward you for your time, not your wallet. Now there’s nothing wrong in putting some money in a mobile game, especially if you enjoy the heck outta it and want to show your support towards the devs who made the game, but for me, if I have to spend money to enjoy a mobile then it’s no fun for me.
OK, so you probably read the title and thought to yourself…”wait, what?” Hear me out here. They’ve been many great games that have come out in the past, that should have sold well, however, for whatever reason, they get completely overlooked and forgotten in time. I want explain to you why that’s happening.
With Marvel pretty much dominating the movie scenes, it’s no suprise that they’d be intersting in dominating the video game industry as well, and with the release of Marvel’s Avengers Infinity war and E3 next month, it reminding me of the Avenger project that was teased a while back.
The Xbox One, sometimes I forget this thing even exists. The most powerful console on the market is also the console with the weakest exclusives I’ve ever seen as a gamer. Should Xbox and Microsoft just call it quits at this point?
