With all this gaming news coming out, I almost forgot about Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet! It’s literally changing the game when it comes to Pokemon games!

PokĂ©mon Violet and Scarlet trailer revealed key details about its features, such as a series-first ability to explore the game’s world in a party of four players. That one is amazing, and scary in many ways. For one, open-world games have a hit or miss when it comes to engaging the players to continue to explore their world and reward them for their time. By that I mean, they tend to just be bloated with minuscule stuff, when a linear design would have been best. Although we have asked the Pokemon games to innovate, I do hope they don’t mess up the formula too much!

“PokĂ©mon Scarlet and PokĂ©mon Violet allow multiplayer gameplay with up to four players,” The PokĂ©mon Company said. “Along with series staples, such as trading and battling PokĂ©mon, you will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players. You can discover new PokĂ©mon and explore unfamiliar areas with your friends and family, opening the door to an adventure more precious and fun than ever!”

To be able to go anywhere from the jump is insane to me, something that I’m still trying to wrap my head around. How will the gyms work then? Will there be multiple gyms with different levels? Or are all gyms going to be fluid, changing as you complete one of the gyms? As in, when you complete one gym, all the other gym level requirement goes up to continue giving you a challenge. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but it all does sound exciting, to say the least!

We got some new Pokemons too but personally, I’m not sold on any of them, yes even the pig too! Not sure why everyone is so infatuated with that pig! However, the legendaries look amazing so I am happy with that. Now, for a more pressing matter, the legendary Junichi Masuda, the long-time developer of the PokĂ©mon series announced that he was leaving to “transcend” video games at The PokĂ©mon Company. This means that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are going to be the first games without his name on the credit, which further makes it difficult to predict how this game will turn out. Maybe it’s a good thing, maybe it’s not! Only time will tell.

Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet is confirmed for a worldwide release date of 18th November. Digital pre-orders are live already via the Nintendo Switch eShop.
