The trailer for The Matrix Resurrections just came out and after watching it a few times, I’m left perplexed.
From visionary filmmaker, Lana Wachowski comes “The Matrix Resurrections,” the long-awaited fourth film in the groundbreaking franchise that redefined a genre. The new film reunites original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the iconic roles they made famously, Neo and Trinity. Now here’s what kinda threw it for a loop, I wasn’t sure if they had confirmed this or not, but The Matrix Resurrections seems to be taking place after the first film, implying that they’re ignoring the second and third film. Yet in the trailer, we see elements from the first film. Maybe those elements are flashbacks? However, how do we explain the young Morpheus scene?
I have heard that when Neo rebooted the Matrix he actually brought in a younger copy of Morpheus that is what we see here. Similar to the characters in the film he himself will have to questions his own reality and come to grips with being built into the simulation. That’s what the virtual streets are saying. There’s just so many questions, and with how meta The Matrix Resurrections seems to be, there’s potential for upsides and downsides depending on how it’s handled. Anyways, those are my thoughts on the trailer, let me know what you guys think?
