The Ember Knight, a new webtoon series takes on the knight stories of old but makes it quite interesting, with a young man seeking revenge for the death of his only family. OK, maybe the premise isn’t actually unique but the execution caught my interest.

When Nagyunn’s twin brother, Najin, is murdered before his very eyes, he vows to avenge his brother’s death by assuming Najin’s identity. But although the two may look alike, when it comes to fighting, Nagyunn lacks the talent and skill his brother possessed. In order to successfully execute his plot for revenge, Nagyunn resolves to train himself to become the prodigious knight-in-training his brother once was. Will Nagyunn be able to keep his identity a secret before others begin to catch on to his act?”

Man, with only four chapters out, I was hooked on chapter 1! The facial expressions in this webtoon sold me on it. I do enjoy a good revenge story. However this may not be everyone’s cup of tea but from what it looks like, I don’t think The Ember Knight is going to be your run-in-the-mill vengeance plotline. His teacher added a twist I wasn’t expecting. A good olf fashioned cat and mouse, where the killer knows he’s been hunted. Fadiyan already became my favorite just because of the way she carries herself. The art in this is pretty good (to my standard, I don’t need art to be super amazing) and it really does a great job in conveying intense emotion well!

This webtoon is worth checking out on Webtoon.
