If you’ve read My Hero Academia (Boku no Hīrō Akademia) chapter 317, you’d know that this is probably the coolest and rawest Deku has ever been since his introduction in my humble opinion. However, it does beg the question, will Deku give in to the darkness?
My Hero Academia chapter 317 touched on the effects the heroes have gone through since the villain’s attack. The constant scrutiny and abuse from the people who once cheered for them have resulted in some long-term pro heroes hanging the cape and walking away. It’s a hint as to what may happen to Deku if All-For-One has his way. He’s been chipping away at Deku’s will over the last few chapters, slowly corrupting his good nature and blinding him with hate and anger. Deku hasn’t eaten or even smiles when he saves people. In fact, you could save he’s turning into a mini Batman or sort, with the super-intellect and detective skills.
Not only that, I feel like the world of My Hero Academia will never go back to the way it was, with hero association and all that. We may be witnessing the death of the hero age and seeing the birth of the vigilante age. If you ask me, it’s very clear that Deku will snap back to his happy-go-lucky state at some point. I doubt that Kōhei Horikoshi has the balls to permanently drive home this version of Deku. Plus, Stain made an appearance in the latest manga chapter, so it’s safe to say that Stain will be the one to snap this dude back to some degree back to the guy that can save someone with a smile on his face.
I say this because the things that Deku has gone through will and should naturally change him to some degree. Yeah, he’s not going to be a full-on edge lord but now, he should have a more realistic outlook on how the world works and that heroes don’t always win. Also, his desire to save everyone will be challenged to its max when All Might dies. That, I believe will be the nail in the coffin for him.
What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments.
