Oscar Winner Matthew A. Cherry’s Debuts Animated Feature ‘Tut’! A Coming-Of-Age story Of The Boy King Tutankhamun!

Sony Pictures Animation is working with Academy Award winner Matthew A. Cherry to debut a new animated feature called ‘Tut’, and it sounds pretty interesting!

“Tut,” a coming-of-age story of the boy king Tutankhamun will see the story unfold from the boy king’s eyes. According to Variety:

“Based on an original idea from Cherry and Monica A. Young, the film will take audiences on a journey through ancient Egypt and celebrate a culture that introduced the world to countless modern conventions and technologies.”

“Cherry said he was “beyond excited to explore the magical world of ancient Egypt through the eyes of its youngest ruler, King Tut. I’ve always wanted to dive deeper into the legend of the boy king and we can’t think of better partners to embark upon this journey with than Kristine Belson, Karen Toliver and the great people at Sony Pictures Animation.”

It sounds interesting so I’m looking forward to seeing how they’ll handle this as it’s very rare to see a film based on the young king, and since it’s going to be animated, that already has my interest.

  1. My first thought was remembering that controversial Queen Nefertiti bust a few years back. Then I wondered if King Tut would have a light skin tone. Yep, I was right.
