Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action role-playing game developed and published by miHoYo, who are known for Honkai Impact 3rd, a popular action game. I had no expecttation for this game when I d3ecided to try it out, however I have say I was very impressed by the quality of the game.

Genshin Impact is not perfect, the story so far is average at best, and often times I find myself just skipping a lot of dialogue, but the fact that the RPG combat is fun makes all the difference. Essential everything I hated about Breath of the Wild was addressed in Genshin Impact. From weapon degradation to a more robust RPG mechanic, you have a reason to keep on coming back. That being said, for me as a true free-to-play player, you can already tell I’m not fond of Genshin Impacts gacha business model! Hearing people drop $200 and more for characters seemed excessive in my opinion.

Nevertheless, I feel that I may give Genshin Impact a pass here, seeing that I don’t need to pay to enjoy myself. That’s the one rule I have when it comes to these gacha games. So long as I don’t need to shell out money to have fun or progress, I don’t mind spending a few bucks here or there. Plus, you could argue that there’s some practicality with this game, you can actually control these characters. Once you have that one character that you like, whether it’s their design, powers, lore, or all three, you’ll spend hours trying to max him/her up to their max capacity.

For me, I feel like it Genshin Impact with worth the shot at least, especially if you liked or disliked Breath of The Wild. I say this because despite looking like a clone, it couldn’t be further from the truth! Genshin Impact stands on its own.
