I didn’t see this coming! The viral video reimagining of Fresh Prince as a drama sitcom is becoming an actual show. That is perhaps one of the most interesting things to come out of 2020!
According to Deadline reports: Peacock has landed Bel-Air with a two-season order. The hourlong series, based on Morgan Cooper’s popular fan film that reenvisions the 1990s Will Smith sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, as a drama, hails from Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Universal Television.Â
“I’ve been in this business for thirty years and that does not happen,” Smith said.
I remember seeing that trailer thinking it was amazing, well-choreographed and edited, and to think it would actually become a two-season series is wild! It really goes to show you that if you put your whole fan energy out there, something good will come out of it. I’m looking forward to re-experiencing the Fresh Prince again in a whole new light! I just hope they don’t start changing too many aspects of the characters!
