I’ve been reading this new (well, I say new but I think it’s been out for a while now) webtoons original called City of Blank, and well I actually like it.

So far there’s six-episode out right now but from what I’ve read, it has this interesting premise that is weirdly captivating. That and the art style is very good and vibrant. Here’s the summary of the webtoons:

In this world that hides its face behind masks from mysterious creatures known as Blanks, there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than meets the eye. Rexerse enters Glory City, better known as the City of Blank, in hopes of finding some answers. However, once he gets there, he discovers he may have gotten more than he bargained for. However, Rexerse may just be hiding a few things himself, whether he knows it or not…

In a world where ghostly Blanks can steal your face – and your life – at any moment, a young boy named Rex hunts for his brother’s killer. Cursed with the unique power to physically touch Blanks, Rex starts to uncover darker secrets at the city’s center and in his own past. Will Rex unmask the killer, or will he become just another faceless victim in the City of Blank?

So far I’m enjoying my read with City of Blank. The idea of people having to wear masks all day, every day to avoid having their faces stolen reminds me of that scene in the Avatar, but taken to the next level. And the consequences are pretty steep too. The tone so far, however, has been pretty light-hearted, especially with the main character Rex been such a chill dude.

It’s worth the read if it sounds interesting to you.
