With supply chains all over the world seemingly coming to a halt, my gut feeling is telling me that we may not see the PS5 or the Xbox Series until 2021 due to the impact the coronavirus has had over the past few weeks. That, and some analysts are saying the same thing.
With talks of this pandemic extending to April of 2020, and a vaccine similar unavailable until 2021, I have a feeling that Sony and Microsoft will have to push their release date for their latest consoles to possibly next year, just to make sure they’re in the clear.
According to Forbes,
Coronavirus is likely to have a major short-term impact on the delivery of both systems. There is a strong likelihood one or both systems will not make a 2020 launch. If the systems do launch, supply will likely be constrained and initial pricing could be higher than expected. Currently, the economy is in an unprecedented state of uncertainty. Even if the situation clears up in a few weeks, the ability to manufacture and release a high-end new game system has already been severely impacted.
So yeah, it’s a bit of a shame but one that has to happen. Unless things change soon, we may be stuck with these consoles for another year. Let me know what you guys think about all this in the comments below.
