My Hero Academia Kohei Horikoshi can’t seem to catch a break. Just when you think things couldn’t get any crazier, the fanbase proves you wrong. Now we have characters sharing birthdays with German and Japanese World War II Leaders?
According to Bounding Into Comics, outraged readers of My Hero Academia have now directed their anger towards the fact that some of the characters in the superhero manga share birthdays with real-life, historical fascist figures. I mean, come on! Look, I will admit that this Kohei Horikoshi seems to have a thing for fascist leader and WWII, denying it at this point would be dishonest. I can’t prove it but come one, how coincidences does a guy have to have before shit starts to look suspect. I digress.
First the name of the doctor Maruta, and now the dates of four main character all share birthdays with actual fascist leaders: Katsuki Bakugo, Endeavour, Shigaraki Tomura, and Midoriya “Deku” Izuku share birthdays with Adolf Hitler, Imperial Japanese officer Kenji Doihara, World War 2 Japanese naval commander-in-chief Isoroku Yamamoto, and the establishment of the controversial Japanese Communist Party, respectively.
In my opinion, it’s clear that these weren’t coincidences here. Now, what does this all mean? To be honest, nothing! If your morals won’t let you read the manga then, by all means, drop the manga and read something else. Attacking the guy won’t help anyone. Trust me, you’ll hurt the guy a lot more by not purchasing any product from him if you truly feel passionate about not supporting an alleged Nazi sympathizer.
As for me, the anime/manga ain’t exactly telling me to hail Hitler anytime soon and I wouldn’t have even known about either, so I’ll keep watching/reading. Just keeping it real! They did the same thing with Attack on Titan, but compared to that, AoT had some actual valid argument to be made. Let me know what you guys think about all this?
