It’s been a minute since I talked about some new indie stuff on here but I feel like I may have found yet another gem to keep an eye out for in the coming months. According to its kickstarter page, TRILL LEAGUE is an idea that takes well-known superheroes and adds a satirical twist to them, sprinkled with some urban edge to them. It’s been confirmed for an animated series.

I won’t lie, I came across this one from one of Deadline articles in which they talked about how 50 Cent and Lionsgate are bringing Trill League to Quibi, which launches April 6, 2020. I got curious and decided to check it. Let me tell, it is rare for me to laugh out loud reading a comic. So when I caught myself chuckling to some of Trill Leagues panels, I knew this Anthony Piper had something special.

I honestly feel like if you enjoyed the Boondocks and The Boys (which is another take of the whole superheroes stick), this Trill League might be something to keep an eye out on. Satire on the superhero genres is nothing new, but I can’t recall one that combines not only superheroes, but anime and hip-hip as well, all of them I enjoy as a fan, so I’m excited to see this comic animated and brought to the screens. You can check out the website here if you’d like to support their work.
