Babylon’s Fall Update Is Coming Soon, End Of The Year Soon – Yeah, I Know Right?

Ever since its initial reveal at the E3 2018, Babylon’s Fall, a game by Square Enix and Platinum Games, the game has fallen out of radar completely. Most people have forgotten about the game, including yours truly, however, that’s changing as an interview with Yosuke Saito from Gematsu reveals that there will be news by the end of this year.

According to Gematsu:

Asked by the interviewer whether Saito will follow through on releasing new information about Babylon’s Fall in 2019, Saito responded, “Yes, we’ll be doing that.”

That’s it, that’s the quote! Eh, truth be told I could have just tweeted it out but just in case there’s someone out here you may have missed the game’s initial reveal, here’s a brief summary:

BABYLON’S FALL, an original title from Square Enix and PlatinumGames, at Square Enix’s E3 Showcase in 2018.

This all-new title, described by studio head Atsushi Inaba as “a new challenge for PlatinumGames,” is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam in 2019!

“During Albenland’s era of expansion, its people discover an unknown energy known as the Oversoul. After years of Experimentation, the Helos Empire succeeds in developing weapons that harness the Oversoul. A small group of seers hailing from all the kingdoms use crystallized Oversoul fragments to predict the future and write down there prophecies in the Ephesian Book.
The seers have visions of an all-consuming darkness. By order of the Helos Empire, Waland travels to the darklands in the far south, foretold by the Ephesian Book as the location of mankind’s revival. With resentment rising against the ruling class over its use of the Oversoul, riots break out among the masses. As rulers of each kingdom turn against their respective populaces, the riots escalate into full-blown war. Disgusted by humanity’s unwillingness to learn from its past mistakes, the elder gods unleash their wraith upon mankind.
With the purpose of rescuing humanity from the brink of extinction, a new goddess Gaia is born. Gaia creates a new world in order to give humanity one last chance. Humans begin to inhabit the new world, and a period of peace follows. Concerned about people losing their faith in Gaia, the high priest Darius forms a consort known as the Scholars of Gaia.
Unable to overcome their ideological differences, the Scholars of Gaia and the Helios Order start engaging in frequent skirmishes. The public execution of a nonbeliever by the Scholars of Gaia creates tension among the masses. The unexplained outbreak of the soul plague prompts the different factions to capitalize on the people’s fear and expand their efforts to convert the masses.
Fearing for the future of mankind after rediscovering the Ephesian Book, the seer Maria forms the New World Academy amid the rapidly worsening war. On the Day of Judgement, Gaia turns against mankind. Deep within the Shrine of Souls, the Nomads are born. Led by the Nomads, Humanity strikes back against Gaia.”

And that’s also it. Now you’re caught up. I’m really interesting to see what this game is going to be all about. I like the medieval theme that its imposing and the world seems to be rich with lore and history so that’s going to be awesome to explore. Also, something about this trailer gives me this vibe that we will be able to create our own characters, and fight with up to four people in a co-op, Dark Soul like multiplayer. I know, I’m not saying it will have Dark Soul combat, I’m referring to the way the Dark soul games have handled multiplayer in the past

I could be wrong about the multiplayer part, but I really hope that they add a character creation of some kind. As for how the combat will work, judging again the trailer, it seems our main character will have the ability to take the limbs and weapons of enemies and used them to his/her advantage. That would really with in line with how Platinum Games make their game mechanics.

Overall, what do you think we will find out at the end of the year?
