So on Saturday 17th November, the eSports awards ceremony was held at Stadium Arlington, which is dedicated to showcasing top class performance and innovation from, amongst others, the players, teams, media, hardware providers, games, events, and personalities within the scene. In one of those speeches Richard Lewis, a British esports journalist and livestream commentator from Wales took the stage to really let the gaming world know how he felt about some of these major media outlets, and it was glorious.

I have to say, I agree wholeheartedly with everything that was said in the video. It is true that the integrity of these media outlets has fallen to shambles and has led to nothing but agenda pushing narrative and posting hit-pieces. One point in particular that Richard mentioned was the fact that these outlets rarely if ever post positive news about esports, something that I’ve never really considered until he mentioned it.
I hope this major callout spurs these media outlets to take their job more seriously and abandon their old ways, however I feel like this will only lead to them doubling down on their antics. Let me know what you guys think about Richard’s speech, do you agree or disagree?
