I wanted to touch on the mob mentality of our day from a nerds perspective, and that is the ideological warfare we find ourselves today. The progressive, left minded individuals have made it a habit of attacking any game for its narrative or ideas, while considering it a virtuous act for diversity, when in fact, it’s having the complete opposite effect and  might actually end up fueling the growth of intolerance and hatred.

I’ll try to be brief here. I may be talking about games, movies and comic, but this can be applied to anything these day and it’s gotten to be a growing concern of mine.

As you know games like Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout and CyberPunk 2077 to name a few have had their fair share of criticism by the small loud progressively left-leaning community. From the main character in Atelier being “objectified” and is “sexualizing” women, to Cyberpunk allegedly having numerous transphobic, racist and God knows what else, it’s easy to see why a lot of people have resulted to either making videos bashing these individuals or just straight make memes out of them.

They’re slowing getting sick and tired. Don’t get me wrong, some of these claims might hold merit, however majority tend to reach the realms of ridiculous. Not to mention, with gender and race swaps of white characters happening at such a frequent rate, while a vice verse would lead to outrage online, you can see why people are beginning to feel intolerance of their version of “diversity and progressive mindset”. Due to this, a rift has being created and many have ended up choosing sides and have formed a bubble or echo chamber that only gets worse with time.

However, I fear that the more the Left-minded community continues to make outlandish and unjust claims and changes of things that don’t adhere to THEIR viewpoint and ideology, the more people will end up adopting a less and less tolerant attitude when games and other media do try to diverse in a genuine and honest manner. I’ve seen it plenty of times online. Just watch some of these videos and pay attention to their language and you’ll see what I mean.

Now as a result of left-minded people trying force most folks to see the world their way, most have adopted this mentality of jumping to an immediate aggressive stance towards anything that remotely seems to be out of what they consider “the norm”. And that’s the issue! What constitute as “the norm”?

Well, to find the answer, all you gotta do is look at what the left seem to be hating at the most and you’ll find your answer. And that’s the problem, they’re really shouldn’t be a “norm” in media but the actions of those to crusade for “change” have inadvertently created a norm that people originally wouldn’t have thought about prior.

Now, whenever a company does add an Black character in a game (or other media) or create a story based on something new, and I mean, they genuinely created this character or story not for an agenda or virtue points but for the sole purpose of fleshing out the lore of the world they’re building, you will find more and more people in the comments  or online sharing their skepticism and distaste for it. Sometimes far worse. We see it in games, movie, comics etc.

I don’t think this will change anytime soon and I fear it’s only going to get worse.
