I tried out ONINAKI, the all-new Action-RPG that tells the story of one Watcher on a journey to protect Life, after Death and you know what, I liked it.

ONINAKI features a hack and slash style battles, with customization of your daemons and weapons. The visuals are nice, nothing too fancy but it has its charm. The story so far from what I played in the demo is the most interesting part of the game and captivates you pretty early on, well for me anyways. However, if there’s one thing I was more focused on, it was the combat mechanic. When first so the gameplay for ONINAKI, I thought is was slow but after playing it for myself, I came to realize that it’s actually pretty fast with some interesting gimmicks to keep it from being too repetitive.

The only reason why I’m not speaking too heavily on the repetitiveness of ONINAKI is simple because it’s the first section of the game. I think once you start unlocking more powers and venture deeper into the game, it might open up more. There is this weird mechanic that allows you to traverse between the living and the dead realms but I have yet to fully grasp the full potential of that feature. Overall, I think Oninaki it worth a try! I might pick it up but I’ll have to see more first.
