One of my goals in 2019 is to talk about and review more anime. So lets start with one that I came across while looking up what anime is dropping in 2019. This one is called Kenja no Mago, also known as Philosopher’s Grandson/Magi’s Grandson.Â
The summary of this anime is as follows:
A young man who had surely died in an accident, was reborn in another world as a baby! After that, he was picked up by the patriot hero “Sage” Merlin Wolford and was given the name Shin.
He was raised as a grandson by Merlin and soaked up Merlin’s teachings, earning him some shocking powers; however, when he became 15, his grandfather Merlin said, “I forgot to teach him common sense!” An “abnormal” boy’s unconventional other world fantasy life starts here!
This anime made by KADOKAWAanime, who have surprisingly made some my favorite anime so I’m already placing a level of faith into Kenja no Mago. I don’t know much about this anime, aside from the summary but the fight scenes and animations do look pretty cool and I’ve weirdly enough grown a likening to anime with other world concepts so there’s that. Plus, for me, this is the first time a person in an anime actually starts out as a baby as opposed to retaining their memory when the dive into another world so I wonder how that will impact him as a character. Although I like to watch more serious, narrative-driven anime, I do like my humour and I can see Kenja no Mago will deliver on that front too. Kenja no Mago premieres April 2019 so I’m looking forward to seeing this anime.
