Word on these cyber-streets is that the next gen console “may” in fact be on they way and could be the ones to usher in a new era of gaming, but are we ready of this change? No seriously, are we REALLY ready to have our entire gaming experience be in the hands of companies that have a monthly maintenance downtime?

I have seen a lot of buzz about new consoles coming soon that are going to either be partially or fully based on online streaming. Naturally, you can imagine how most gamers are feeling right now. Online streaming has never had the best reputation for solid gameplay experience. However, it seems Sony, Nintendo and even Xbox feel confident that they’re ready to take on this challenge.

Microsoft recently revealed Project xCloud, a service with a distinct emphasis on bringing AAA games to mobile devices.

According to engadget:

“Ultimately, Project xCloud is about providing gamers — whether they prefer console or PC — new choices in when and where they play, while giving mobile-only players access to worlds, characters and immersive stories they haven’t been able to experience before,” Microsoft CVP of cloud gaming Kareem Choudhry.

I can see why they might do it. Ever since Nintendo came and released the Switch, probably the greatest console feat of its time, everyone now wants quality AAA games on the palm of their hands. Trust me on this! Once you’ve played a game on the Switch, you will want EVERY GAME on the Switch. However, is this really our future?

I mean, I kinda don’t see it just yet. Yeah, Microsoft is crazy enough to pull off such a feat, but I doubt Sony and Nintendo are willing enough to push the envelope just yet. Still I could be wrong and all three of them could say it’s time for a Renascences in gaming. Personally, I do kinda want it, mostly because of my experience with the Switch and I am a believer in technological advancement of any kind, but I’m fully aware not every shares the sentiment.

Let me know your thoughts on this subject.
