I haven’t talked much about Shadow of the Tomb Raider on here and the reason for it is well…it slipped my radar for a bit. They’re are so many great games that are coming out soon that Shadow of the Tomb Raider took a unfortunate backseat and I wasn’t a having it. So today I’d like to share my thoughts on the game.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Eidos Montréal in conjunction with Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is an action-adventure game played from a third-person perspective. The game’s hub is set to be the largest in the franchise which also reveals the hidden city of Paititi. The story takes place after the events of Rise of the Tomb Raider. The protagonist Lara Croft is an archaeologist on an expedition to Latin America looking for a Mayan relic which has a connection to her late father. Trinity, a paramilitary organisation dedicated to investigating the supernatural, seek the relic to reshape the world.During the expedition Lara sets off a Mayan apocalypse and she attempts to save the world.
I’ve played both the sequel to the 2013 game Tomb Raider and its sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider, so I am a fan of this new reboot of Lara Croft. From the gameplays I’ve seen, the game is setting out to be an even better game, both in gameplay mechanic and visual than its predecessors. Keep in mind that I played both games on PC, and Rise of the Tomb Raider had some of the most amazing graphics of its time. So I have high expectations that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be the same.
As Laura will be exploring the hidden city of Paititi, the game allows you to hear the local launguage in either their native tongue or in English. Hearing them speak English was kinda weird and took me away from the immersion that you could possibly experience so when I get the game, I’ll most likely be setting it to the native tongue.
Laura has changed as well! Her appearance finally matches the activity that she performs on a day to day basis. I’ve heard people, a small minority, complain that Laura shouldn’t be muscular which is wild to me. Laura’s current body type is the result of her adventure from the last two games. It’s a small details like that that we should be appreciating, rather than complain about.
The world that Laura will be exploring looks lush and vibrant and gives us that sense of adventure, mystery and danger that made me a fan in the first place. I look forward to visiting the world of Laura once again and this time, my PC is ready!
