Oh my lord, the mystery in the Attack on Titan world continues to thicken and I’m all for it. Attack on Titan Season 3 Episode 3 (40) titled Old Story really gave us some much needed lore on Historia, the world and the real reason the enemy wants Eren so damm badly.

Historia and Erwin look back on their past, revealing a shady government with a hidden agenda and inspiration for an uprising. Lets start with Historia. Her origin story was depressing as hell man. I’ve never felt so bad for a fictional character in a long ass time and seeing what she had to go through kinda got to me. I’m still not sure on her Dad’s true motives but that man can not be trusted. The more I learn about this world, the more intrigued I get.

Aside from that, we learned why the enemy has being on the hunt for Eren for such a long ass time. It turns out that, from my understanding, when a titan eats a human with titan powers, they are able to revert back to human and obtain the powers of the titan that they’ve eaten. And Eren doesn’t just have any ordinary titan powers, with his being the type to command other titans, it can prove to be quite useful in ruling the world.

This also explains why titans eat humans and ignore the livestock around them. They’re unconsciously looking for a way to turn back into humans. That revelation blew my mind. This anime is all types of amazing.

Meanwhile Erwin is plotting to overthrow the fake King and put Historia as the true Queen of the land. Hearing Erwin’s tale also helped put things in perspective, if not just a little. Knowing that the King of old has manipulated humanity’s history helped explain everything  so far.

Honestly, this episode gave me goosebumps man. It was amazing, as expected of this anime. I can’t wait to learn more about this world filled with deception and manipulation.
