There is no denying that Fortnite is currently the most popular game of this year. It has gotten so damm popular that schools have had to exclude the game from their WiFi. Because of this, many believe that nothing will ever top the game’s success and it has cemented itself as the top uncontested game of existence. Well I don’t really agree with this idea.
Fortnite has achieved success that many companies have dreamed of for years. It has managed to get everyone of all ages to try out the game. Even people who don’t really play video games jumped in on the fun because they didn’t want to feel left out. It took the formula that PlayerUnkown Battleground established and made it its own thing. There’s no doubt that this game’s success is based on the fact that it’s colorful and most importantly, that it’s free. If this game had been behind a paywall, I’d doubt many people would have jumped on the hypetrain like they did.
Coupled that with young kids and young adults watching their favorite top streamers playing the game and you have a recipe for success. Now the question that’s on everyone’s mind is: how long until everyone gets bored of it? And will there ever be a game that will as successful as Fortnite?
The answers to both those questions is YES! Right now, Fortnite is on fire and I have no animosity towards it. I personally don’t enjoy the game as much as how other people have been but that just means the game isn’t for me. I know a lot of people have a tendency to hate on something when everyone likes it, but for me I couldn’t care either way. It’s true that if I had to pick between Fortnite and PubG, I’d pick PubG but that doesn’t speak on the quality of either games. I just prefer PubG.
However I do believe that Fortnite will die out eventually and another new hot game that will achieve something spectacular will take its place. It has happened in the past and it will happen again. As technology constantly grows and improves, there’s bound to be something on the horizon to take Fortnite by the throat and dethroned it. It’s only a matter of time.
It’s pretty naive to think that nothing will beat Fortnite. But until then, we’ll just have to wait and see. What are you’re thoughts on this?
