So Sean Schemmel, the voice of Goku and Goku Black has decided that he will give Goku Black an British accent when he transforms into Super Saiyan Rose and I’m honestly having a hard grasping the reasoning for it.

To me, this decision strikes me as a bit odd because essentially, Goku Black is Goku, figuratively speaking. All Zamasu did was take over Goku’s body. Which means that by any logic, Goku should technically sound the exact same way, only difference being his dialect and mannerism.

It’s not the British accent that’s the problem, heck that would be dope to see, but it’s the fact that its changing because of a transformation which makes no sense. When Goku transforms into each of his Super Saiyan states, yes there’s a noticeable difference in his voice, but for the most part it’s just his vocals getting deeper and angrier. Not once has his accent changed. The Dragon Ball community is split between this decision as well, with one side saying that it should stay consistent (either all British or none) and the remaining side saying that they don’t really care or mind the change.

I’ve tried digging into this, to see why Sean Schemmel would’ve made such a decision but I couldn’t find one that was logical in my opinion. I’m not saying that his decision to give Super Saiyan Rose a British accent is going to ruin the experience, especially since Goku Black only powered down like once and after that remained in that form for a while, but it’s going to sound silly hearing the sudden change in his voice.

I respect Sean Schemmel and the work that he’s done, but that doesn’t excuse this random decision to add an accent when one was never needed. Technically, Goku Black should sound EXACTLY like Goku but hey what do I know, I’m just a random blogger.

Anyways, I just wanted to share my thoughts on this subject and see what you guys think of it. Let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below.
