I love animations and web series on YouTube, they used to be all that I watched on YouTube in the early days but now it’s a shame that YouTube’s algorithm isn’t promoting some of these awesome contents. Instead we get the likes of Logan Paul and whatnot. Anyways, today I wanted to spotlight an original project that I have been following on Twitter for a while and has finally released it’s first episode, Black Crystal!
Kay, the creator of the Black Crystal web-animation series and founder of KayAnimations described the series as follows:
Black Crystal is an original anime-style web animation series. It follows the story of an anthromorphic boy named Kuro setting off on a journey to find his family. Along the way, he meets many new friends and enemies as he slowly discovers the truths of the world, and helps restore the balance of the warring land.
I really liked the first episode of this web animation. It was entertaining to watch and the voice acting for the most part were great. However, I do have some criticism about Black Crystal, nothing huge, just something I felt was missing while I was watching the episode.
I felt like maybe some scenes were missing BGM music at times. I don’t know if this was an intended, creative decision by Kay or not but that was the only thing that I felt was off. The voice acting could also use some improvement but they’re good as is now. The rest of it was great. The best part about Black Crystal was the fight animation/sequences. The choreography were smooth, fast and perfectly executed. If the fights in the first episode of Black Crystal are anything to go by, this is going to be great series.
Overall, I’m very impressed by Black Crystal. It was fun and entertaining and I even caught myself laughing at some of the funny moments in the episode. Great work overall!
