I never thought I’d be interested in a film about a city hunting and eaten other cities but here we are talking about it. Mortal Engines is a 2018 sci-fi film from Universal Pictures, based on the novel of the same name.
To give you guys a quick rundown on what the story is all about:
The movie is set in a post-apocalyptic world, ravaged by a “Sixty Minute War”, which caused massive geological upheaval. To escape the earthquakes, volcanoes, and other instabilities, a Nomad leader called Nikola Quercus installed huge engines and wheels on London, and enabled it to dismantle (or eat) other cities for resources. The technology rapidly spread, and evolved into what is known as “Municipal Darwinism”.
Now the trailer did give us a glimpse of what a city eaten another city will look like but it’s not much to go for now, well unless you’ve read the book. Anyways, I’m intrigued and will try and keep my eye out of this movie. Mortal Engines comes out December 2018.
