You know, if you told me that we would be getting an animated Spider-Man movie in 2018 that touches on the spider-man universe, with Miles Morale as the lead character, I would have doubted you. However, it seems we are in fact getting one from Sony.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
Visually, it looks fantastic. I like the art direction that they’re going with, but something about the animation just doesn’t sit well with me. I guess its something I’ll get used to when watching the movie. Either way, I hope the movie does well in the box office as this would be a great way to introduce Miles Morale to a new audience who may not have read the comic books. Personally, I’d like to also see Silk and Spider-Gwen in this movie too. There’s a lot of huge potential and hopefully Sony doesn’t use this just to make a quick buck, but I guess will see.
