I have been keeping my eye on LeSean Thomas anime called Children of Ether and it looks just as epic as I had imagined.
Children of Ether follows Rhonda, a woman with a dark past and a mysterious power, as she is pursued by an unknown assailant after the death of her father. Aided only by her wits and a pair of orphans, Rhonda journeys through a decaying, dystopian metropolis populated by raiders, gangs, and the supernatural. As she struggles to survive in this harsh urban tangle, she meets both friends and enemies, and searches for answers about this power, “The Ether”, awakening within her.
The anime looks absolutely fantastic, the fight scenes look like there are going to be top notch, there’s plenty of gore and violence which is always a good thing, and the art-style is even better in motion. From the small glimpse of dub that we got, it does sound alright but I’ll need more dialogue to come to a final conclusion on what I think about the dub overall, however the story looks to be very dark and mature which is to be expected, especially when you got LeSean Thomas (Cannon Busters), designer Hiroshi Shimizu (Michiko & Hatchin), storyboard director Shingo Natsume (One Punch Man), and animator Mitsuo Iso (Neon Genesis Evangelion) working on it.
I am so looking forward to seeing this anime movie once it drops on Crunchyroll but if you can’t wait till then, then you can watch it in theaters on July 26th on selected theaters during Anime movie night.
