So we finally got to see the legendary, super-powered console that will be able to push gameplay to 4K, but is it worth the buck?

Here’s what we know about the console:

Power

  • 6 Teraflop GPU clocked at 1.172 Ghz
  • 12GB of GDDR5 memory
  • 326GB/s of memory bandwith

True 4K

  • 8+ million pixels
  • HDR
  • Wide color gamut
  • Premium Dolby Atmos sound

Compatibility

  • All Xbox One accessories and agames work on Xbox One X

Supersampling

  • Games rendered in 4K
  • Improves 1080p output

So it’s one hell of a beast and without a doubt the most powerful console on the market right now. However, watching the conference, it made me realize that this is more of a “want” than a “need”. There wasn’t a single game that made me say “Damm, I need to go pick up a Xbox One X to play this game” and this is coming from a person who owns a PC and a PS4. Microsoft made sure to use the term “exclusive” for each title the revealed but they never made it clear as which of these so called exclusives are ONLY found on Xbox, especially on the One X. Most of the games that were announced are multi-plat games.

I feel like only die-hard Xbox fans and hardcore gaming enthusiast who collect consoles would be likely to upgrade to the Xbox One X. As a PC and PS4 owner, I would be damm well crazy to even consider picking up the console, especially  at that price. But that’s just me, let me know your thoughts on this newly announced console.

The #XboxOneX will be available for $499 starting November 7.
