My Hero Academia Season 2: Episode 18 – Cavalry Battle Finale Review
The teams are fighting it out in the second half of the cavalry battle….
I have to say, I really enjoyed this week’s episode. Everything from the moment Todoroki stole Deku’s headband to Bakugo going crazy on that Class B guy was animated nicely and got me hella hyped up.
It’s episode like these that really makes My Hero Academia shine. However I feel like the spotlight this time went to Bakugo, Iida, Tokoyami and Todoroki. Seeing all of them use their unique Quirks to overcome their present obstacle in order to win really made the episode great to watch.
We see Deku playing keep away with Todoroki while dealing with their lack of offense due to Tokoyami’s weakness to extreme light. Meanwhile Bakugo was losing his shit against that Class B guy Monoma which prompted his determination to the absolute max. It’s here that we get a glimpse of Bakugo’s ability to observe and react. Despite his behavior and attitude, Bakugo’s is known has an ace fighter and that showed in this episode.
I was also impressed with Iida’s secret ability, Torque Recrioburo, which helped turned the tide of battle to their favor. We even see Todoroki use his left side for the first time in the anime, something he told himself he wouldn’t do. In the end, thanks to Tokoyami’s quick thinking, Deku was able to secure a spot in the top four and is able to move on.
Overall this episode was solid, filled with tons of action.
