Nintendo has had it rough these past few years and with everyone eyes now on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo now has a golden opportunity to make things right by bringing back some of their under utilized classic franchises back to life…
Kid Icarus
The first franchise that comes to mind is Kid Icarus. Kid Icarus made its debut on December 19, 1986 for the Family Computer Disk System in Japan and the Nintendo Entertainment System. It’s an action platformer with role-playing elements. The player controls the protagonist Pit through two-dimensional levels, which contain monsters, obstacles and items. A 3D version known as Kid Icarus: Uprising came out for the Nintendo 3DS and since then the franchise’s gone dark, leaving with its main protagonist appearing in the latest Super Smash Game.
I enjoyed the franchise as a kid and I would like to see a fully 1080p game on the Nintendo Switch some time in the future. The franchise has a great story, amazing characters and it would be amazing.
Metroid
Don’t even get me started on this one. We are so long over-due for a Metroid game its actually not funny anymore. Metroid is a science fiction action-adventure video game that chronicles the missions of space bounty hunter Samus Aran, who protects the galaxy from the depredations of the Space Pirates and their attempts to harness the power of the eponymous Metroids.
It’s one of the most recognizable franchises that Nintendo owns, and yet they’ve done next to nothing good with it as of late. Does Nintendo not have any idea the type of reception they’d get if they announced a new main line game. Miyamoto could easily just make a video, show the Metroid silhouette logo and fans would lose their shit. With Nintendo Switch on the horizon, it’s never been a better time to bring our girl Samus back to life.
F-Zero
Personally, I’ve never played a F-Zero game but I know for sure that the demand for it is there. F-Zero is a series of futuristic racing video games known for its high-speed racing, unique characters and settings & difficult gameplay. Fans have been craving for a F-Zero game for so long that some dedicated fans have decided to take it upon themselves to create this type of genre for other to quench their thirst. If Nintendo could just pull their heads out of their asses for just a minute, they could try and supply the demands, rather than mercilessly shutting down fan games.
Star Fox
Wait what? They’ve already made a game just recently for the franchise? Well too bad, that game doesn’t exist in my reality so we’re gonna pretend you didn’t bring it up. See, what I’m talking about is a game from this generation, and not a game that found itself a time machine and leaped forward in time from 2011. We’re talking about a true sequel that the fans deserve, one that uses today’s technology. Sigh, sometimes I wonder if Nintendo’s HQ got hit with some sort of Time Paradox that forces them to live in the past. It’s ridiculous at this point.
EarthBound
EarthBound features many traditional role-playing game elements: the player controls a party of characters who travel through the game’s two-dimensional world composed of villages, cities, caves, and dungeons. Along the way, the player fights battles against enemies and the party receives experience points for victories.
The sole reason as to why this franchise is on the list is simple because I never got a chance to play these games, and with EarthBound been hailed as one of the greatest RPG’s of all time, it would be cool to see a remake or a trilogy of these games on the Nintendo Switch. I like RPG, so the more, the merrier right? Maybe a Semi-3D game perhaps?
