With so many games been announced, released or currently in development, it’s quite easy to miss quite a few of them that could’ve probably been  interesting to you. So, I decided to be a good pal and share with you my list of 5 upcoming indie games that might be of interest to you…

5. HellBlade: Senua’s Sacrifice

I want to start off the list with Hellblade, yeah it’s a well known game already but I feel like it’s game that’s worth the extra attention. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is an upcoming video game being developed and published by Ninja Theory. The story is based around Celtic myth and focuses on the main protagonist Senua, as she embarks on a very personal journey through a hellish underworld made up of Senua’s psychotic manifestations of her own reality and mind.

Why is this game is on my list you ask? Well for one, the concept for this game is very interesting and very unique, but most importantly, the developers of this game are committed to pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a indie developer. According to them,

“We are embracing the creative spirit that comes with independence without letting go of the stunning production values that we are known for. It’s not indie, it’s not AAA. This is a third way. its independent AAA.”

The game looks impressive, gameplay and visual wise and seems to be bringing something new to the table. That’s why I put it on my least. Plus if you played Heavenly Swords like me, then this might be something you will want to keep an eye on for sure.

4. Nelo

What actually caught my eye when I first saw this game was the insane speed and chaotic warfare that was displayed. After that I knew that this game would be something awesome. Nelo is a Hyper-Fast, Out of this world, Sci Fi action-adventure game with its own formula on the Shoot ’em Up game genres.

I played the demo of this game and although the demo was bare, it gave me  a glimpse of what’s to come and if the trailers are any indication as well, its going to be awesome. I even had the opportunity to interview one of the developers and founder of Nelo, which you can find here. Moving at the speed of sound while mowing down thousands of aliens? Yeah I know, it sounds too good to be true.

3. Strength Of The SWORD: ULTIMATE

Strength Of The SWORD: ULTIMATE is a fighting game combined with a BRAWLER. It was originally released on the PS3 with a very supportive and loyal fanbase. But what made me interested in this game in the first place? It’s the fact that from what I heard, this game is supposed to be extremely difficult and challenging, punishing you for even the slightest of mistakes. This version, unlike its predecessor, comes with a whole bunch of modes which it originally didn’t have, PvP, Co-Op and something called  Dark Mode.

After doing some research of this game, (majority of which were positive), I decided to include it in this list in case you may or may not have heard of it. I feel like if this game gets the same hype as Rocket League did, it could potentially be something great that can build a community.

Plus it’s looks extremely fun and competitive.

2. Versus: Battle of the Gladiator

NANI? Another fighter based game? Yeah but hold up, this one this actually a little bit different. Versus is a gladiatorial PvP action game with brutal non-targeting melee combat. Essentially its Chivalry: Medieval Warfare but with Gladiators and it’s fast-paced. From what I’ve seen, you can configure and create your own combat style, it has realistic armor parts destruction system which immediately affects gameplay and you can fight against up to 16 players in free-for-all or team vs team battle.

Overall, it looks pretty cool to me and there seems to be a lot of work been put into the game so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt for now and hope it doesn’t disappoint.

1. Edge Of Eternity

Last but certainly not least we got Edge Of Eternity. Edge of Eternity is a RPG that will lead you to experience a unique and unusual universe. The game takes place in a world whose design combines futuristic influences, the best elements of JRPGs influences and Medieval age influences. When I first saw this game, I thought I was looking at Phantasy Star 2, only after I took a second look did I realize that this was a indie game, and a incredible beautiful looking one at that too.

And to make things even better, Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer who did Chrono Trigger and Xenogear will compose and record with a full orchestra the main themes of the game. I honestly had forgotten about this game up until I decided to write this list but I’m glad that I did because from the last time that I saw this, it has improved quite a bit.

Bonus: LEAP

Aye who doesn’t like a bonus. I wanted to talked about this small indie game that, to me, has shown to be quite promising. It’s called LEAP and it’s a 2D multiplayer, team based, action platformer that allows you to take control of one of many unique espers that you’ll find in the game.

I’ve been following this game for quite some time (not to mention that I’m a fan of the creator as well on YouTube) and seeing how this game has evolved in terms of visual (I haven’t seen much of the gameplay mechanics yet) impressed me a lot and so it made it to my bonus section.

And that’s it from me, if there was a game that’s worthy of been mentioned, let me know in the comments below and lets give the some limelight.
