It’s very rare for an anime to captive you from just one episode, usually you would need two or three episodes in order to tell whether or not it’s worth investing your time in. Boku dake ga Inai Machi or otherwise more commonly known as ERASED, succeeds with just one episode alone. It’s one of those anime that leaves you wanting more, makes you think, and hits you with the most powerful feels you will ever feel. It’s a hidden gem worthy of your time…

ERASED (Boku dake ga Inai Machi in Japanese), which roughly translates to (The Town Where Only I am Missing) is Mystery, Psychological, Seinen, and Supernatural anime created by Kei Sanbe.

ERASED follows Satoru Fujinuma in his mission to uncover what truly transpired 18 years ago and prevent the death of his classmate while protecting those he cares about in the present. In order to do so, The detached, Satoru taken advantage of a powerful yet mysterious phenomenon, which he calls “Revival,” to save many lives.

This anime those so many things right, the people at A-1 Pictures did an amazing job with the visuals, the pacing of the story is done well, with each episode leaving you with a cliff-hanger that has you wanting more. The character development of main protagonist Satoru Fujinuma and the other characters are all done very well, not one character in this show was annoying or irrelevant to the plot.

Everyone had a role to play in the anime and each role was executed very well. The voice acting in ERASED really added to the enjoyment of the series. My favorite thing about the anime was the music itself, especially it’s opening theme song, it’s outstanding.

In my personal opinion, ERASED was done so well, it’s actually an anime that I could even recommend to non-anime people to watch. It’s very adult-themed, has no crazy anime powers besides the Revival, and touches on some really real life dark concepts. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a huge favor and go check it out now before it gets spoiled for you. If love mystery, anime and thriller, then trust me, you will absolutely enjoy this anime. It’s definitely a must see anime of 2016.
