Well it’s near the end of the year and we have had some good (and some bad) games come out in 2015 and with 2016 fast approaching, I have decided to compile a list of the Top 12 games that I am looking forward to in 2016 for the PC and consoles and these are in no particular order….
12. Star Citizen
This game has continued to impress me with its sheer scale of content and its out of this world graphics. I am a huge space exploration fan and this game gives you an unprecedented chance to live your own deep space adventure. The game gives you the opportunity to play however way you want, you can play as a simple merchant trader, a fearsome pirate or a badass mercenary. The possibility with this game is endless and I can’t wait for this game to be released.
11. For Honor
When I first saw this game at E3, what caught my attention was its unique combat system that had a small resemblance to Chivalry. For Honor is a competitive third-person melee fighting game that is a mixture of speed, strategy, and team play with visceral close range combat in multiplayer action. I very much enjoyed my time with chivalry the game and seeing how this game seems to have a more fleshed out combat system, it made my list as one of those games that I will be keeping my eye on in 2016.
10. Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4
It’s no surprise that this game would make the list. I am a avid fan of the series and with this game covering the entire story and offering new mechanics such has leader swap and wall run and been developed with the next-gen console and PC in mind, its looking to be a very promising game that I am sure all Naruto fans will appreciate.
9. One Piece: Burning Blood
Yet another anime game that makes the list is an upcoming fighter called One Piece: Burning Blood. One Piece: Burning Blood is an upcoming fighting video game based on One Piece anime and is currently been developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. This one follows a similar fighting style like the Naruto Storm games and been a fan of both the anime and the storm fighting mechanic it was a no brainier to put this game on the list.
8. Tom Clancy’s The Division
Ever since I saw the division at E3, I was very intrigued by what the game plans to offer. The game is a next-gen experience in a persistent and dynamic open world environment that is built from the ground up for co-op and where exploration and player progression are essential. The most impressive feature to me was the next-gen Snowdrop engine that they showed to us at E3. However as time passed on, I slowly started to lose interest in the game but not enough for it to not make it to the list. I’m sure once the game gets closer to its release date more information might come out to hype us up again.
7. Paragon
At first I was ready to ignore this game because I thought that this was going to be yet another game that wanted to ride on the current MOBA hype train, however after seeing the gameplay, I immediately changed my mind. Paragon is the MOBA from Epic Games that puts you in the fight with a direct third-person control and deep strategic choice. The graphics of this game are absolutely amazing and it reminded me so much of Smite and to me that’s a good thing seeing as I really enjoyed Smite’s gameplay style in the past.
6. Pokken Tournament
A fighting game that is based on Pokemon is something that I personally have always wanted as a child and now Nintendo and Bandai Namco are making my childhood dreams come true. The game is currently out in Japan already although I hear that its not doing so well at the moment but I’m not too worried about that as Japan tends to have a different taste in game than the western audience.
5. Street Fighter 5
I enjoy fighting games a lot, its one of my favorite genre and so its not much of a surprise that Street Fighter 5 would make it to this list. I have played the beta and so far I am enjoying my time with it.
4. Black Desert
Black Desert in my opinion is the most impressive MMO game that I have seen to date. Black Desert is a huge sandbox oriented MMORPG that provides a variety of unique experiences, including strategy-oriented action such as castle sieges and complex battle, and also sophisticated simulation content such as trading, NPC-hiring and real-estate management. It’s combat system is just amazing and the level of customization in this game is unreal. It really is pushing the boundaries of what a MMO is capable of and with its release coming in 2016, this game is one to keep an eye out for.
3. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
Yeah I know, there’s no word on this game’s existence. However I am hoping to see an announcement for this game in 2016 as I really enjoyed playing the first game. I just hope that the devs will take some of the feedback from the fans and incorporate them into the next installment.
2. No Man’s Sky
Like I said previously, I am a huge space exploration fan and this game will obviously be in my list. No Man’s Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy. Now granted, even I’m not sure if this game will deliver what it promises but if it does really deliver on its promise then I will be very happy.
1. Next-Gen Sonic the Hedgehog Game
Sonic is my number one favorite video game character of all time and for the last couple of years has released some really bad games unfortunately. However with SEGA stating that it has learned from its errors and is planning to return the blue blur to its roots, it gives me some hope for the future of the sonic series. On a different note, I actually wrote a more extensive blog about my hopes for the movie which you can find here.
And that’s it for my list of the top 12 games that I am looking forward to seeing in 2016. Did your game make it to my list? If not then tell me your top 12 games in the comments below and thank you for reading.
