TV Animation Director, Producer and Designer LeSean Thomas, well known for his work in Black Dynamite, Legend of Korra and The Boondocks is creating his own animated TV series pilot called “Cannon Busters : The Animated Series”  and I like what I’m been seeing so far…

So I actually heard about this anime during New York Comic Con but I never paid too much attention to it (mostly because a certain anime game released a trailer that week) but after exploring the internet and stumbling upon it again, I decided to investigate it and so far I’m liking what I’m seeing.

Cannon Busters is an animated adventure story about the value of friendship and just how far one is willing to go to maintain it. Now this isn’t anything new at all, as most anime these days all revolve around friendship and how important it is and yada yada ya yeah you get it. It’s literally a standard in the anime world. The story on the other hand is interesting itself.

The story goes like this, “following the adventures and exploits of S.A.M, a high-end, royal-class friendship droid who’s joined by a quirky, discarded maintenance robot and a brash, deadly fugitive. Together, the unlikely trio embarks on an unforgettable journey in a fantastic and dangerous world in search of S.A.M’s best friend, the heir to a powerful kingdom under siege.”

The concept sounds awesome, instead of humans, it seems that androids or cyborgs inhabit this world and I really like the visual and art style they went with. The animation from the teaser trailer looks fluid and beautiful as well. The music in the trailer was good, it wasn’t anything that I would jam to but it did deliver the hype and I hope there will be more epic OST in the future.

To me when I first looked at it, I really got that anime vibe from it, but as you may or may not know, the anime community can be very picky on what is classified as “anime”. Honestly, I am calling it a anime unless the creators themselves say otherwise.

The anime was funded by the fans on kick-starter and they reached their goal, hitting more than $150k. You can still support them on their website by clicking here.

I look forward to seeing this anime and if you want a taste right now, check out their teaser trailer.
